MS4 Requirements
Six stormwater management plan minimum control measures
Public Education and Outreach (PEO)
The purpose of this is to educate the public on the many ways to significantly reduce the amount of stormwater pollutants that enter our stormwater systems and keep our receiving waters clean.
Public Involvement and Participation (PIP)
Illicit Discharge Detection and Elimination (IDDE)
Construction Stormwater Management (CSW)
Post-Construction Stormwater Management (PCSW)
PCSW requires the permittee to develop or maintain, implement and enforce programs to control stormwater discharges from new development and redeveloped sites. This applies to private and public development sites, including roads.
Good Housekeeping / Pollution Prevention (GH/PP)
GH/PP minimizes the effect of the municipality’s contribution of stormwater pollutants into receiving waters. Certain operations have been identified to have the greatest likelihood to cause pollution to stormwater runoff, so municipal employees are educated and trained in standard operation procedures to reduce these pollutants.
